Taishin Life Insurance Responded to the Earthquake in Chiayi on January 21 with Immediate Policyholder Service Measures
At 12:17 a.m. today (21st), a magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck Dapu, Chiayi, followed by numerous aftershocks, causing the collapse of many buildings in the surrounding areas. In order to provide immediate assistance to the affected policyholders and reduce their burden during the cold winter at the end of the year, Taishin Life Insurance provided the affected policyholders with a variety of care services. Within three months from the date of the disaster, affected policyholders who provided proof of disaster may apply for the following services through customer service center or customer service hotline at 0800-015-000:
- Policy loans:
Policyholders affected by the disaster who have applied for new policy loans within three months from the date of the disaster will be exempted from the interest for the first six months. Policyholders affected by the disaster who have already taken out policy loans prior to the date of the disaster will be exempted from the policy loan interest for six months.
- Policy reissuance:
The handling fee for policy reissuance will be waived.
III. Renewal premiums:
If the policy is due within three months from the date of the disaster (excluding cases where premiums have already been automatically advanced or the policy has lapsed), please submit a written application to defer payment of the overdue premium (premiums already paid are non-refundable). The Company will approve the deferral until three months after the end of the grace period.
- Express claims processing:
In an event that any policyholders are identified, the Company will immediately initiate care and dispatch personnel to visit injured policyholders and the families of deceased policyholders to understand their claims needs. The relevant claims applications of the injured or deceased policyholders will be given priority to facilitate claims processing.
